Portland

We are taking a dump.  Literally.  As I am writing this post, my dear husband is pulling our trailer to the main dump site where our fellow RV friends combine their waste.  We are joining the team.

Our lives have looked a little different since we started our trek a couple week ago.  We took on the easiest form of parenting and strapped our kids into their car seats and took off.  “Driving that far with 3 kids?!” was repeated to us from various angles.  Yes, of course.  Much easier to secure your kids in a 5 point harness and drive.  Screaming?  Whining?  Can’t do a thing but sit and relax to the sound of it all.

We inched our way down and across, stopping at Mr. Waldon’s over and over and refilling on milk and snacks while we were at it.  We saw kilometers, I mean miles, of corn fields in Nebraska and acres of potatoes in Idaho.  We met the sharks and monkeys at the Omaha zoo and rode our bikes in a random parking lot in Iowa.  We spotted all the letters in the alphabet a few times and listened to The Little Princess audio and Dusty the Plane a few (hundred) times.  We made pit stops for dirty diapers and stretched small bladders.  We carried around salamanders and marveled at how tall the trees can grow.  We got wet in the Oregon rain that doesn’t stop.  We laughed, cried, whined and slept our way here.

Yes, we have transported 5 people, one dog, a photography business, an aerial company, 8 stuffed animals, 14 Lightning McQueens and an RV to Portland, Oregon.

And now we squat for a couple of weeks to take photos, create videos, and play with wonderful cousins.

Our journey has only begun but I’m happy to report that my kids haven’t physically harmed each other, my baby doesn’t seem to have developed a complex from the instability of it all, my marriage is still intact and we still like each other.

That, my friends, is what I call success.

Looks like our “waste” has joined the rest and we are about to bump our way back to our site, ready to fill ‘er up again.
